PDS supports your sleep practice with professionals who have invested their careers in sleep medicine. Each carries impressive credentials in their respective area and regularly participates in professional development
- The administrative team has established more than 40 successful sleep centers in the region.
- The medical team is led by our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Rizan Hajal, who is board-certified in sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine, internal medicine and critical care.
- He is supported by individuals who are licensed and/or registered in polysomnographic technology, respiratory therapy and nursing. PDS currently has 22 registered polysomnographic technologists (RPSGT’s) on staff.
- Clinical staff members are required to maintain BLS credentials, meet JCAHO requirements and when eligible, pursue the Registered Polysomnographer credential.

Sleep Physician
Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Rizan Hajal, MD, FCCP
Board- certified in sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine, internal medicine and critical care.
Our board-certified sleep physician performs the following:
- Interprets your sleep data
- Makes diagnosis
- Recommends or prescribes treatment
- Interacts, consults and educates your physicians
- Remains on the forefront of sleep medicine
Polysomnographic Technicians
Polysomnographic technicians perform the following:
- Orientate patient to the sleep study procedure
- Prepare and calibrate sleep testing equipment
- Fit positive airway pressure masks
- Setup and monitor patients including physiologic calibrations
- Acquire data and document observations
- Recognize apnea events and implement split-night and oxygen protocols
Polysomnographic Scoring Technologists
Scoring technologists perform the following:
- Review patient information and history
- Hand review each study
- Identify and score respiratory events and limb movements
- Stage sleep and recognize arousals and awakenings
- Review EKG for notable arrhythmias
- Compile final report for physician review
- Assess quality of sleep recordings and complete quality assurance reports
- Provide on-call support and remote surveillance
Clinical Coordinators
Clinical Coordinators perform the following:
- Provide clinical training for acquisition personnel
- Supervise staff and day-to-day field operations
- Establish a direct relationship with their respective regional partners
- Perform quality assurance measurements
- Update policy and procedure manual as needed under direction of medical director
- Oversee customer service and support including scheduling on-call personnel
- Anticipate and fulfill needs of our partner institutions
Systems Engineers
Systems engineers perform the following:
- Set up and maintain Digital Courier™ links with partner institutions
- Ensure highest level of security for patient information
- Develop and implement security protocols
- Provide customer service and on-call support
- Maintain information technology infrastructure
- Monitor and implement HIPAA regulations and guidelines
