North Dakota Center for Sleep selected to take part in nationwide coalition

10/02/2008

Jon Swegarden, president of the North Dakota Center for Sleep, has been selected to participate in the National Sleep Foundation’s committee to discuss trends on sleep disorders. Only ten sleep centers in the United States were selected for this national group which is comprised of the most significant providers of sleep services with representation from major geographic areas.

“This inaugural group is key in analyzing all of the various aspects of sleep disorders,” say Swegarden. “This industry is growing so quickly that exploring all the dynamics will be important in continuing to improve the way in which we treat sleep disorders. On behalf of the North Dakota Center for Sleep, we will bring the perspective of our region to the forefront.” Millions of Americans have problems sleeping. One in ten adults, over 43 million, suffer from a common and potentially fatal sleep disorder known as sleep apnea. Sleep apnea can be diagnosed and treated.

The North Dakota Center for Sleep is located at 4152 30th Avenue South, Fargo, No. Dak. It is a full service sleep center and the only independent accredited program in its service area. It is nationally accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

PDS, Inc., the parent company of the North Dakota Center for Sleep, is also locally owned by Jon Swegarden and John Lund. PDS operates and serves as a consultative organization for 40 sleep centers in the upper Midwest.
